About John Milleker Photography

We are full time professional photographers based near Baltimore, Maryland, providing photography services for individuals, organizations, and institutions. Our work spans lifestyle, event, and fine art photography, and clients trust us to apply experience, technical skill, and thoughtful creativity to document meaningful personal and professional moments.

We work across the full spectrum of photographic practice, from modern digital photography and archival printing to traditional film, darkroom techniques, and historic photographic processes dating back to the early nineteenth century. Our offerings include studio and location photography using current digital tools as well as hand crafted photographic methods such as dry and wet plate collodion, silver gelatin printing, and a wide range of historic and alternative processes including albumen, salt, carbon, and Van Dyke brown printing. These techniques can be used as artistic enhancements or as the foundation of a session, and we work closely with clients to select processes that best suit the desired aesthetic and purpose.

Our work has been featured in newspapers, magazines, and online publications. John has received multiple professional awards, including recognition from the Maryland, Delaware, and District of Columbia Press Association, earning first place in his division and Best in Show among all press photography divisions.

Education is a central part of our practice. We provide photography instruction for beginners through experienced photographers, covering topics such as camera fundamentals, general photography, studio lighting, post processing, and color accurate workflows from capture to print. Instruction also includes traditional darkroom techniques such as film development, print enlarging, and alternative photographic processes. One on one instruction is tailored to individual goals and experience levels, while group classes are kept intentionally small to ensure hands on learning and meaningful engagement.
